The Story Behind the Game:
Legend has it that Ladderball started in the 1980's down in Florida. It was started by the son of a Senior Citizen who
enjoyed playing horseshoes his entire life. As he aged, this Senior Citizen was unable to lift and throw the horseshoes.
His son, who happened to be an aeronautical engineer, invented the ladderball game.
Presently, campgrounds throughout the United States are populated with many different ladderball teams, tournaments,
and players. Young and old, short and tall- everyone can play ladderball.
In one ladderball tournament in Belchertown, Kayla McGrath, a 9-year old, beat 28 other adults during a game in which
she partnered with her father, Paul McGrath. Kayla scored 13 out of the 15 points in the championship game.
At Clarkson University in New York, several Austrian students are now hooked on ladderball. We are anticipating an Austrian/USA
Olympic final in the 2012 summer games.
